It's time for some searing hot nuggets of utterly engrossing factoids, this week concerning: just how much coffee there is. I know, I know, I can feel your barely contained excitement from here, but I think it is important that we both get through this dangerously addictive article as quickly as we can, so sit down and buckle up.

Top ten coffee producing countries (Data from International coffee organisation and The U.S. Department of agriculture - 2012):

  1.   Brazil
  2. Vietnam
  3. Indonesia
  4. Colombia
  5. Ethiopia
  6. India
  7. Honduras
  8. Peru
  9. Mexico
  10. Guatemala

Top ten coffee drinking countries per capita (Data by way of Chinese whispers from Wikipedia, Charts bin, World resources institute, International coffee organisation.

  1. Finland
  2. Norway
  3. Iceland
  4. Denmark
  5. Netherlands
  6. Sweden
  7. Switzerland
  8. Aruba and Belgium/ Luxembourg
  9. Canada
  10. Germany

It is interesting to see how the coffee produced by countries which lie in between the tropics of cancer and Capricorn, is enjoyed further north, and particularly by countries surrounding the Baltic sea.
