It might be an odd notion to some, but if you have a chocolate egg or two left over from Easter and just can't face it then we have a solution! Last year we presented you with a chocolate chip cookie recipe. This time round it's one for brownies. Quick and easy to prepare, perfect for using up the surplus and a delicious accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee.

4oz butter
4oz chocolate
2 eggs
8oz sugar
4oz walnuts (chopped)
2oz plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

1- Melt the butter and chocolate in a thick based saucepan, then remove from the heat.

2- Beat the eggs and add to the saucepan with the sugar. Mix well.

3- Stir in the chopped walnuts, then the flour and baking powder.

4- Grease and line an 8'' tin and scoop the mixture into it.

5- Bake at  180°C/GM4 for 30minutes.

6- The brownies should have formed a crust on top but retained a soft, gooey consistency inside.

7- Leave to cool for 5 minutes and then cut into 9 squares. Remove from the tin once they've fully cooled.

These really are a delectable taste sensation, so if you have no Easter eggs left go and get some more chocolate – dark chocolate if possible and if you start to feel guilty remember, walnuts are good for you!
