You'd better start book marking these (if baking's your thing). Try out this mocha-style recipe, turning the chocolate and coffee combo drink into a sweet treat.


  • 6oz margarine

  • 4oz caster sugar

  • 4 medium eggs

  • 2oz self raising flour

  • 6oz drinking chocolate

  • 1 tablespoon of coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon of hot water

-For the fudge topping-

  • 3oz margarine

  • 8oz icing sugar

  • 2oz cocoa

  • 2 tablespoons of water


  • Cream the margarine and caster sugar

  • Beat in the eggs one by one

  • Beat in sifted flour and drinking chocolate and mix well

  • Add coffee and beat well

  • Spoon into 2 greased and lined 8" tins, or a large tin

  • Bake at 180°C for 20-25 minutes

  • Leave to cool in tins.

-Fudge topping-

  • Melt margarine in a saucepan

  • Add sifted icing sugar and cocoa, and cook for 1 minute. Beat until smooth and shiny

  • Cool slightly and then pour on to the cake, still in tins.

  • Spread the mixture over the top of the cake and leave it to cool

Try it by itself, or with cream/ ice cream or yoghurt- or indeed whatever suits your fancy.
